How a consolidation engagement runs
A clear sequence for multi-entity groups: map the structure, test eliminations, tidy the pack, and hand over findings before fieldwork.
1. Entity and ownership mapping
We confirm the group chart, ownership percentages, reporting currencies, and any mid-period acquisitions or disposals. This map drives every later elimination and NCI calculation.
2. Pack intake and chart alignment
Subsidiary trial balances and intercompany listings are checked against the group chart. Missing packs and mapping gaps are listed before testing begins — not discovered mid-sample.
3. Intercompany and elimination testing
Material entity pairs are tested for reciprocal balances, timing differences, and unrealised profit. Elimination journals are traced to evidence, not assumed from prior periods.
4. Consolidation bridge review
We walk the bridge from statutory figures through top-side journals and eliminations to the consolidated primary statements, flagging plugs and unexplained CTA movements.
5. Findings memo and handover
You receive prioritised findings, a clearance schedule for open items, and a pack structure your auditors can navigate. Optional readiness workshops follow if subsidiary discipline needs reinforcement.
